Image
These Dogs are not from Rouen, France, but from Michigan, USA. Their lead singer and guitarist, Loren, has kindly agreed to answer our questions. Interview. Your last album, Hypersensitive, was first released in 2012 on CD and it's just been rereleased on LP last September. First of all, can you tell us why you decided to rerelease the album on LP? Was the CD sold out? When we first released Hypersensitive we pressed 500 cd’s to sell at shows and it never was released for streaming. We had sold out of the cd pressing also, so very few people had heard it. When Heavy Medication Records in Poland approached us for a vinyl LP release we were excited to finally get the LP to get out to more fans. Why did you chose to rerelease the album on Heavy Medication Records ? You already knew this label ? How all this took place ? Well our good friend Pat Todd from the Lazy Cow Girls + Rankoutsiders introduced us to Derrick Ogrodny at Heavy Medication Records and Derrick knew Hypersensitiv

FAN CLUB - SEX PISTOLS

Here's an interview with Tony, a Sex Pistols collector we got in touch with for a few questions for our FAN CLUB file. The Sex Pistols week starts here ! Tony, can you first tell us how you discovered the Sex Pistols  ? How it all happened ? I was a bit young to be into the band when they actually existed. But my brother was 4 years older and he had a few punk records when i was a little kid. I remember really liking his copy of Sid doing Something Else when it came out. We shared a bedroom and he used to listen to John Peel as well at night so I got a good intro to punk from a relatively young age. But still a little bit late for the original wave of punk due to my age. What kind of music were you into at the time ? I wasnt into any type of music as I was very young when punk 1st hit. The 1st credible record i remember buying was Generation X King Rocker . I saw them perform the song on top of the pops and was blown away by the image in particular but also the music!! So went

THE HECK : INTERVIEW MAY 2023 WITH HENRI KEEFMAN

Image
Could you please introduce yourself with a few words? Henri Keefman : Vocals & Guitars, loves vinyl records and vintage gear Erik Berends : Drums, loves cool, big cars and mostly always drives us to shows René Katerbarg : Bass, loves to shoot/ edit his own short movies. Your band name is The Heck , why this name, is there a particular meaning behind it ? We were looking for a timeless, nowadays name, that could also give the impression that it came straight out of the sixties. And it had to be like a punch in the face to represent our vicious side and our hectic live shows. And it had to be short, so it would be easy for stamping/ printing DIY releases. The name THE HECK, combined with the !!!! logo, checks all boxes! Can you tell us about your previous bands, your musical background (which bands did you play in, which music styles, have you released some records etc.) ? Before The Heck I played in The Miracle Men (sixtiesbeat), De Keefmen (sixties garagerock) and The Sens

The Gee Strings have just finished a french tour this month and their new record is out now. Bernadette (guitar) and Ingenius Pop (vocals) have kindly answered some questions. Interview ! Your last record, Speed Soul Racer , has been released last month. Can you explain the title ? Speed Soul Racer sounds great for an album title, we were just thinkin. It´s also a short and very fast album ...so it makes sense to us to use it as our album title…. But it´s up to you to interpret the story and the lyrics. Seven years have passed since your last album, I'm So Gee !! Why have you spent so much time without doing a record ? We were touring a lot after the release of I´m So Gee !! ...and time seems running quickly... not that much time for rehearsals. And by the way we need lot of time to finish and work on a new song / new album. And Bernadette starts also playing in The Morlocks in that timeperiod with a heavy tour schedule for many years and also recording a 7 inch and a n

MUCK AND THE MIRES : There’s nothing better than finding out your heroes are amazing people

We've already talked about them in the Sound Of Now section. Their new album should be out early next year. We spoke to Evan Shore (Muck in the band) in anticipation of their new LP. As French people, we're fascinated by the music of Boston ( our webzine even has a section devoted to musicians from this city ). Can you tell us about your musical Boston? Is it as wonderful as we think it is? Boston has always had a large and diverse music scene and you can see all types of live music 7 nights a week. But it was a handful of now legendary garage and punk bands from the 60s and 70s that created what many around the world consider the “Boston sound”. Groups like The Remains , The Barbarians , The Real Kids , Jonathan Richmond and the Modern Lovers , DMZ , Lyres , Nervous Eaters to name a few.  Who are the musicians without whom Muck & The Mires wouldn't be what it is today? Which bands have really influenced you? I was introduced to The “ Nuggets ” garage rock compilat
