SHOT OF RHYTHM AND BLUES Patrick Higgins OK, so I’ve just got my copy of ‘ Shot of Rhythm and Blues ’ off the shelf to flick through again. It’s a coffee table book or, as the author describes it, ‘a pictorial essay of Dr Feelgood and Wilko Johnson’ I thought I was a real fan of Feelgood and Wilko – but this guy, well – he’s a superfan! He leaves me a long way behind. Enough of that - let’s have a look at what is in the book First off, after the acknowledgements, dedication and foreword is an introduction to the author, Patrick Higgins. Patrick came across Dr Feelgood in the late 70s and studied photography from 1982. He first saw Feelgood in ’82 when they were perhaps at their lowest ebb. Living in France he attended several Feelgood gigs, taking photos and getting to know the band rather well as the lineups changed. The book covers 10 years 1982-1992 and it feels like yesterday.
