Alors partenaire de Jeffery Chas Chandler (bassiste des Animals et soutient inconditionnel de Jimi) préfère se retirer de l'affaire, conscient qu'un groupe pour pré-ados et l'Experience, avec toute sa démesure, forment un mélange instable.

La musique de The Jimi Hendrix Experience, tornade sonore, a-t-elle influencé la scène rock locale ? Les musiciens du Michigan utilisaient-ils déjà la démesure électrique avant le venue de Jimi ?

- "La scène rock'n'roll du Michigan était déjà en place avant la venue de Jimi. The Amboy Dukes, Bob Seeger, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, The MC5, The Frost et The SRC jouaient déjà un rock suramplifié avant l'arrivée de Jimi. Il est venu pour la première fois dans le Michigan à Ann Arbor en août 1967 mais c'était dans un petit club pour un minuscule show que peu de personnes ont vu. Le concert de Detroit en février 1968 était sa première apparition majeure. Les Who, Cream, les Rolling Stones ont joué à Detroit avant Jimi.
Je pense qu'Hendrix a influencé le rock du Michigan mais que cette influence est plus venue de ses enregistrements que de ses quelques concerts".
