Le label portugais Chaputa! Records fête ses dix ans cette année. Nous lui souhaitons un très bon anniversaire et l'encourageons à continuer dans ce qu'il fait. Pour souffler les bougies, nous avons demandé aux groupes qui ont collaboré, ou collaborent encore aujourd'hui, avec Esgar et son équipe de nous écrire quelques lignes.

Mad Mojo Jett feel so fortunate to have been able to release our debut 7 inch with Chaputa and Esgar. The Chaputa catalogue is exactly the type of roots and garage music we're inspired by, and we were honored to join the Chaputa family! It's been a great experience working with Esgar from start to finish of our collab - he's so courteous, professional and warm! Also he definitely knows how to pack vinyl for overseas shipping (lol)- everything always arrives in pristine condition!

I met Esgar while playing in Portugal with King Salami & the Cumberland Three, when Chaputai! Rds was just a new born baby, and we hit it off straight away…over a bacalhau and vinho verde!
After the gig, Esgar was Djing, and we saw the man had impeccable taste in music (he made us dance all evening), and an extended knowledge of garage punk. We were great friends right away, kept in touch, and soon after he kindly offered us to release a single for his label, and another one, and another one, etc…
It’s always been a great pleasure to deal with him and his partner Themoteo, both very friendly and easy going, and very professional at the same time, and also working with their super talented artwork illustrator Rui was always a very enjoyable experience. We have always been satisfied with our records they put out, and we look forward to do many more with them.
More recently Chaputa! has also released a record with my new project Martin Savage & the Jiggerz, and once again we are super pleased with it, and honoured to be on such a great label!
I have no doubt Chaputa! Records will grow and grow, and I can’t wait to visit Portugal again to spend time eating Portuguese food and chatting with my great friend Esgar.
