INTERVIEW MONSTRE - SCHNECKENKÖNICH "I now make music that I would have been ashamed to admit even listening to a few years ago!"

Image
What is a Monster interview? Unlike the lengthy interviews we sometimes offer, it's limited to a few questions. From week to week, you'll find different recurring themes. It's up to you to choose your favorite questions, or to read the whole thing. Have fun with   SCHNECKENKÖNICH discovered thanks to Bertrand Tappaz and Voix De Garage ! Taste question: Which artists have influenced you the most, and what can you tell us exemples about this influence? Who is the artist you dislike and why will he/she never influence you? At first I had to say, that I will answer your questions for myself (Hannes: vocals and guitar). If you would ask the other members, the answers surely would be different. So my influences for Schneckenkönich musical-wise are Creedence, Skynyrd, Rory Gallagher, Roky Erickson, Dead Moon and Otis Redding. If you listen closely you maybe will find a link to one of those artists in nearly every single song of us. The second part of the question would lead me to

Image
These Dogs are not from Rouen, France, but from Michigan, USA. Their lead singer and guitarist, Loren, has kindly agreed to answer our questions. Interview. Your last album, Hypersensitive, was first released in 2012 on CD and it's just been rereleased on LP last September. First of all, can you tell us why you decided to rerelease the album on LP? Was the CD sold out? When we first released Hypersensitive we pressed 500 cd’s to sell at shows and it never was released for streaming. We had sold out of the cd pressing also, so very few people had heard it. When Heavy Medication Records in Poland approached us for a vinyl LP release we were excited to finally get the LP to get out to more fans. Why did you chose to rerelease the album on Heavy Medication Records ? You already knew this label ? How all this took place ? Well our good friend Pat Todd from the Lazy Cow Girls + Rankoutsiders introduced us to Derrick Ogrodny at Heavy Medication Records and Derrick knew Hypersensitiv

MUCK AND THE MIRES : There’s nothing better than finding out your heroes are amazing people

Image
We've already talked about them in the Sound Of Now section. Their new album should be out early next year. We spoke to Evan Shore (Muck in the band) in anticipation of their new LP. As French people, we're fascinated by the music of Boston ( our webzine even has a section devoted to musicians from this city ). Can you tell us about your musical Boston? Is it as wonderful as we think it is? Boston has always had a large and diverse music scene and you can see all types of live music 7 nights a week. But it was a handful of now legendary garage and punk bands from the 60s and 70s that created what many around the world consider the “Boston sound”. Groups like The Remains , The Barbarians , The Real Kids , Jonathan Richmond and the Modern Lovers , DMZ , Lyres , Nervous Eaters to name a few.  Who are the musicians without whom Muck & The Mires wouldn't be what it is today? Which bands have really influenced you? I was introduced to The “ Nuggets ” garage rock compilat

THE PRIMEVALS : We hope to get to France again in April 2024 !

The Primevals have just released a new album, so it was the perfect opportunity to ask their singer Michael Rooney a few questions and get a geography lesson! Can you tell us about your "music childhood" in Glasgow and how you discovered the music that still accompanies your life? My music childhood consisted of playing 45 records at family parties in Glasgow. These parties were lively and fun with the occasional argument and fight. We had 45’s by Them . The Kinks , The Who , The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds that was the vibe. This music was mainly discovered on the radio or tv at that time. What were the most memorable concerts of your teenage years? I saw many concerts in my teenage years. I saw Captain Beefheart a lot and met him to on several occasions. They were amazing shows. Miles Davis and Lifetime also. The Flamin’ Groovies, Muddy Waters , Mott The Hoople , The Kinks , Dr.John , Graham Bond , Kevin Ayers , Rolling Stones and many more.. How did you experience

THE GEE STRINGS - LITTLE BOB IS NOT DEAD

The Gee Strings have just finished a french tour this month and their new record is out now. Bernadette (guitar) and Ingenius Pop (vocals) have kindly answered some questions. Interview ! Your last record, Speed Soul Racer , has been released last month. Can you explain the title ? Speed Soul Racer sounds great for an album title, we were just thinkin. It´s also a short and very fast album ...so it makes sense to us to use it as our album title…. But it´s up to you to interpret the story and the lyrics. Seven years have passed since your last album, I'm So Gee !! Why have you spent so much time without doing a record ? We were touring a lot after the release of I´m So Gee !! ...and time seems running quickly... not that much time for rehearsals. And by the way we need lot of time to finish and work on a new song / new album. And Bernadette starts also playing in The Morlocks in that timeperiod with a heavy tour schedule for many years and also recording a 7 inch and a n
